Meet Red, our Brave Pet of the Month for January!

She is a happy active Labarador / Dalmation cross and loves nothing more than going out for long walks with her owner.

In the last couple of years Red has had ongoing pain and lameness in her front legs. She was not able to go on her usual walks and was starting to get frustrated and sad (understandably). She had lots of different painkillers and treatments, but nothing seemed to help enough to allow Red to do what she loved the most, walking and swimming with her owners.

We started Red on some laser treatment to help with her aches and pains. Initially this did not seem to help and she even looked more lame. Red was then booked in with Rob Harry for a repeat orthopaedic examination and some xrays. Rob realised that although Red was getting a little worse, this was due to pain in other joints that had now become more apparent.

We increased the level of laser treatment to include the other areas of pain identified on the xrays and Nichi created a rehab plan to help her. Red has lost an amazing amount of weight, loves her rehabilitation exercises and has not looked back.

She now jumps up to say hello to our reception team when she comes in and her owner has said she is better than her old self! When they are out and about, people comment on how much more sprightly she seems as she is back to her eager self on walks, running out ahead and she even manages a little gallop! She has also returned to her wild swimming with her human dad, which she adores!

Everyone is so very pleased with her progress and we all hope that the dark, painful days are a thing of the past for Red.

Arthritis is very common in older animals and there is so much we can do to help ease the aches and pains associated with getting older. Our aim is to keep your pets happy and active for as long as possible, and with the combination of laser therapy, dedication from us and you and a personalised rehabilitation plan from our Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner we can offer more than ever before!
