New Team Member!!

We are so happy to introduce our new vet Tariq Abou-Zahr.

Tariq is from Cardiff and graduated as a vet in 2014 from the University of Bristol. After qualifying, he spent his first year in a very busy, small animal practice in Newport, where he completed the RCVS Professional Development Phase.

After this, he embarked on a 4-year European College of Zoological Medicine (ECZM) internship and residency program at Great Western Exotics in Swindon. Tariq's passion and area of special interest is avian & exotic animal medicine. (also called zoological medicine)

Tariq passed his RCVS certificate of advanced veterinary practice (CertAVP) in zoological medicine in 2018, through the University of Edinburgh. He has published several peer-reviewed articles and has presented both in the UK and internationally in this field.

Tariq enjoys all aspects of avian and exotic practice, but particularly likes avian medicine. Parrots are his favourite animals to treat. He also loves treating snakes and lizards (he keeps several himself at home) and has an interest in rabbit medicine and surgery. As well as first opinion avian & exotic cases, Tariq also regularly sees referral cases from other veterinary surgeons.

Tariq's hobbies include travel, photography, watching international rugby (supporting Wales!) and visiting nice country pubs.

Welcome to the Valley Vets Team Tariq!
