Filipa grew up in Porto, a city in the north of Portugal. To her disappointment, her parents never allowed her to have pets. But, since she spent most of her holidays in the countryside with her grandparents and cousins, she grew up surrounded by various animals, from cats and dogs to farm animals such us sheep, goats, chickens and cows.
When she first started veterinary studies in University of Porto, her parents finally allowed her to have a pet. And she adopted Romeu, a small crossbreed dog, who thinks he's a cat.
Filipa came to the UK and did a 4 month placement in a small animal practice in Yorkshire. Then after qualifying in June 2017, she joined Valley Vets.
Filipa’s main areas of interest are surgery, ultrasound and cardiology.
