Robert Thomson

Veterinary Surgeon and Clinical Director

Robert grew up in South Africa just outside Johannesburg. Animals played a major part in his childhood with pets ranging from hamsters, cats and dogs to geese and a pig.

From an early age Robert wanted to be a vet and he qualified from Onderstepoort, Faculty of Veterinary Science at the University of Pretoria in June 2000.

Robert moved to Swansea in July 2000 where he started his first job and met his wife. He moved to Valley Vets in 2005, working primarily in Ystrad Mynach and became a Director and owner in 2007. He has appeared in a number of Animal 24:7 episodes on the BBC.

Robert's work is now split between management of the practice, and clinical work in all of our sites.

Outside of work Robert is also a foster carer for children under five, and enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family.
