Novembers Brave Pet is Bailey Butler!

Bailey was a regular visitor to our Gabalfa branch for many years, suffering from a chronic hepatitis which required regular monitoring. He is such a well behaved patient and everyone from the vets to the reception team are so fond of him we sing him a little song of his name (“Bailey Butler, Bailey Bailey Butler”) whenever he comes in!

Last year his thirst increased and we realised he suffered from Cushings disease on top of his hepatitis and started treating him for that too.

Unfortunately during 2016, Bailey has developed more problems. He was booked in for surgery to have some lumps and bumps removed, when we discovered that he also suffered from sugar diabetes, and needed insulin injections twice a day! He has also developed diabetic cataracts in both his eyes, a nasty lump on his bottom which is being treated with a hormone implant and to top it all off he developed a blockage from some urinary stones which had to be removed under sedation!

Poor Bailey has been through a lot over the last 12 months but thanks to his mum and dad and all their hard work his diabetes has stabilised well, and he is adjusting to life without his sight. I am sure you will all agree that he is a very deserving recipient of our Brave Pet award!
