A NEWt home?

This little guy is a common (smooth) newt.
He (or she?) was found inside an Estate Agents office in Cardiff yesterday - presumably looking for a new home.
The RSPCA collected him and brought him to our Cardiff Hospital.
Following a clinical examination with one of our vets, he was declared healthy and we were able to release him last night near a fish-free garden pond with lots of surrounding log piles, stones and dense vegetation - an ideal NEWt home!
Common newts frequent ponds when breeding, but otherwise enjoy damp woodland, bogs and gardens. Their numbers are declining due to habitat loss and pollution.
Luckily this chap is safely re-homed, most importantly even avoiding stamp duty!
